Hello, Class. Here is what I would like you to do: Research a mysterious phenomenon. It can be anything. Write your opinion about this mystery. Do you think it's a hoax or a delusion? Why? If so, give a more rational explanation.
Do you think it could be for real? Why? What gives you faith in this phenomenon?

ReplyDeleteAngels are usually viewed as messengers of a supreme divine being, sent to do the tasks of that being. Traditions vary as to whether angels have free will, but I think that they are not real maybe cause I am an atheist but, theres a lot of people who belive in angels actually a 2002 study based on interviews with 350 people, mainly in the UK, who said they have had an experience of an angel, describes several types of such experiences: visions, sometimes with multiple witnesses present; auditions, e.g. to convey a warning; a sense of being touched, pushed, or lifted, typically to avert a dangerous situation; and pleasant fragrance, generally in the context of somebody's death. In the visual experiences, the angels described appear in various forms, either the "classical" one (human countenance with wings), in the form of extraordinarily beautiful or radiant human beings, or as beings of light but theres.

ReplyDeleteIn 2002, I went to Lourdes with my grand mother. The story of this apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes began the 11 Febuary 1858 when a little poor girl saw the Virgin Mary for the first time. She was the only one who can see this apparitions even if other people were with her when this happen. The Lady of Lourdes told Bernadette Soubirou that the water , wich was near to the grotto where the Lady of Lourdes apppeared, had some special skills. Since the people began to drink this water more than 7000 people claimed that they had been healed after drunk this water, 68 of them have been declared a scientifflicaly miracle by the Catholic Church but also by some doctors.
I tink that this appeared really happens and that the water has some powers. For me 68 " miracle" on the same place in only 150 years is really a lot and can be only explain by the surnatural power of God.
The body of Bernadette didn't rot after her death and Today more than 100 years after her death, the body still normal.
When she repported the apparitions, Bernadette spoke about the "imaculate conception" and she didn't know anything about that before.
I know that there are a lot of critics about this apparitions and is true that some peolpe can belive to a hoax, certainly because of the succes of this city on the Catholic world. Lourdes is today the second city of France, if we count the number of hotel and is sure that a lt of people earn a lot of money beacause of this apparitions.
Even if an other explaination can be prove. I will still belive to this because I think it's help a lot of people. For a lot of people in my village, Lourdes was the only one place that they have visted in all their life.
Crop circles
ReplyDeleteCrop circles are some pictures created in fields by crushing plants in an organised pattern. For the most of crop circles it's believable that humans do them because it's easy to create a perfect circle with a rope and some heavy rolls. But for people who believe in surnatural facts it's impossible to make so elaborated symbols in one night even these jokers are many and well-organised. An other arguments is that all the plants are never broken but only crushed. They think that humans are to clumsy to crush ten thousands plants without breaking one.
My opinion is mixed. I think that farmer or other people are totally able to do that. The greed is a so big motivation(some farmers let visitors come in their field where there is a crop circle but they have to pay a ticket!!!). But what i find incredible is the time. How it's possible to do that in one night. that's a mystery.
Angels
ReplyDeleteSome people say they are the servants of God.
Other say everyone has his own guardian angel, still with an alliance to God.
Normaly angels are good. If they're not, they're called "Dark Angels". So just the word "angel" stands for something good.
The most pictures of angels drawn by children are a tall, slim women with long open hair (blond or brown)wearing a white dresses and between the shoulders have white wings.
But if you read in the Bible about the angels of God, eg Gabriel, the angel who came to Maria and told her she carried the Son of God, you'll see the difference.
First it is a man, also tall and slim, but often you see them without wings!
Guardian angels, as I know them, are similar to you. Means they look like you, but less colourful. They have something shiny and heavenly (also called "angelic").
My mom believes strongly in angels and when I was around five years old, she read a book about guardian angels to me and my sister. I remember one page, where there was written, give your angel a name. My mom gave her angel the name she was called by some very close friends, but my sister needed a long time to decide. I still don't know how or what her reason was. I had no reason, I didn't even think about it. It just came. I called mine Linda. :))

ReplyDeleteA place where ghosts are reported is described as haunted, and often seen as being inhabited by spirits of deceased who may have been former residents or were familiar with the property. Supernatural activity inside homes is said to be mainly associated with violent or tragic events in the building's past such as murder, accidental death, or suicide,sometimes in the recent or ancient past.
But i think this is totally stupid because a ghost can not live and there is no credible scientific evidence that any house is inhabited by ghosts

ReplyDeleteThe Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that never comes home, doomed to sail the oceans forever. For example the Black Pearl from the movies the Pirates of the Caribbean is derivied from the legend of The Flying Dutchman, a ship that never comes home.
ReplyDeleteThe original legend of The Flying Dutchman tells that the vessel, sailing to the Dutch East Indies, was caught in heavy weather and the Captain decided to continue in opposition to the advice of the First Mate. The Captain, Willem van der Decken, threw his chief Mate overboard and continued his trip to the Dutch East Indies, but never arrived.
Up to this point it would be plausible story, but that the ship continues as a ghost ship is for me not plausible.
I think in the 17th century, I might be possible that a ship is forever on the oceans. If that is your life, the way to earn money and you have no home, you can’t go home. Later on the story is extended and is used in a lot of books and movies. As a ghost ships the story has some aspects that aren't realistic. For example some accounts say that the ship dived into the water and disappeared.

A haunted house is a house who's the center for supernatural occurrence or paranormal phenomene. in a haunted house there can be ghosts poltergeists or demons.
ReplyDeleteIn hanted house carbon monoxide is often identified in the rooms and the symptoms of this monoxide are depression, dementia and allucinations. this is the case for almost all the hounted houses.
I am writing about aliens, I don't think aliens have been to the earth. I think when somebody claims that he saw an alien it must have been something else like a strange animal, somebody with a strange appearance or he just imagined it. But who knows? Maybe NASA already found aliens and they didn't tell it to the world...But I think if life from a foreign planet were able to travel to the earth, the humans wouldn't be able to capture it and treat it like an animal and conduct experiments on it.
ReplyDeleteI think there is life somewhere in the universe, there must be! Last Wednesday I was in a planetarium in San Francisco and it was really exciting and interesting! They explained to us a lot about the stars, planets and the cosmos and they tried to make us understand how big and gigantic the universe is and how infinitesimal the earth is in it. So there must be another planet where life is possible. But I don't think they have already arrived at the earth!
